A clownish comedy with corrosive humor, The Revizor is a political satire written in 1836 by Nicolai Gogol, a Russian playwright, novelist and poet of Ukrainian origin.
In a small town in the depths of Russia, while the Governor, the Judge, the Doctor and other civil servants are multiplying acts of corruption and clientelism, the arrival of an inspector general straight from Petersburg is announced: the Revizor. A wind of panic rises over the city and takes with it all forms of reason.
